Shingding
From Wakipedia
Shingding - (pronounced exactly the way it looks). ;)
The word Shingding is used whenever someone is clueless about what they really intend to say about a person, a place or (most common) a thing or an object. However, that's just the first reason to use this fun little word. The opportunities of using this word in your vocabulary are just endless.
This is a big deal! Think about it. If you’re in a social crowd (club, house party, school and even at work) and you so happen to be the first to say it around a whole bunch of people, you’ll be looked at as kind of weird but cool because everybody will laugh, so it doesn’t matter how silly it sounds when you say it. Shingding is officially the new Whatchamacallit. Remember Whatchamacallit? I do, I especially remember the chocolate bar named after the word. Hmmm, yummy.
Keep in mind that the best time to use the word Shingding when conversing is when you are referring to an object and you can't quite think of the 'real' name for it because you have forgotten the 'real' name for it because it’s possible that you have enough shingding named things occupied in your head already anyway.
Example: Imagine being at a bar-b-q and you’re out back in the yard and you want your sister or friend or brother to move something out of the way for you because its blocking the TV and you are lazy so you don't want to get up out of your seat (and its also possible that from the beers and margaritas and fun punch going around, your tipsy as h***) so you ask your friend or sister or brother or whomever to move the thing out of your way and the conversation goes something like this… You say - 'Hey, Betty move the thing over to the left' (Betty doesn’t know what the h*** you’re talking about) Betty says - ‘What thing?’ You say - 'No, not that thing, the little red, you know, the shingding on the coffee table.' (Now, Betty knows what you were referring too and everyone who just heard you stops what their doing and realizes how silly and strange yet clever word it is and they start cheering you on and laughter begins to burst out and everyone is like 'Oh my god, what did you just say' and before you know it, your officially the life of the party, at least for this day, and now Betty feels a little stupid cause she never heard of that word and she was clueless of what the heck you were trying to say, so instead of you looking clueless of not knowing how to call a simple object - you are now the 'center of attention'). Betty says - 'Oh, that thing.' You say - 'Yes, that shingding thing, move it over to the left, please.
Okay, so you get the picture. Now, go on. Have fun with this word.
As great and entertaining it is to say whatchamacallit, and let me add again that this word became more famous because it was named after a chocolate bar, Shingding too can be crowned the next King (or Queen) of useless but fun American English words that are embedded in our language that can soon be named after a candy bar or who knows it may be the name for a product or even a service.
